Tractors in the distance...

...require careful watching.

And my legs have got post marathon hurt!

The estuary at Llanelli...

Non-runners will appreciate the natural beauty. Runners will think "Thats a nice flat but windy place to hold a marathon".

Both groups are correct.

Five days finished...

...and it got a not tedious towards the end. The most noticeable effect was a lack of energy for any exercise above walking pace.

Lets hope a day of stuffing myself with carbs today will fix that.

Pics of yesterdays food. Porridge this morning!

Day 2 of the high fat diet...

Dinner on day 2 of the high fat experiment.  More bacon, this time with egg, garlic and chilli flakes. On the ubiquitous mountain of salad.

So far its not been too bad. I'm not hungry, or overly tired. I'm not sure i would lose weight if I maintained this... but thats not the point. The big question is how would I feel if I trained, but I know the answer to that... rubbish!

One day left... or do I carry on for the suggested 5 followed by a day of monster carb scoffing? Stupid to experiment with a marathon on Sunday (albeit a C-race)?

What do you think???

Experiment time...

With my second training race coming up (Llanelli marathon this Sunday) and time ticking to the 100 miler its time to start some radical thinking.

Cue my first foray into pre-exercise high fat diets.

The idea is to have no carbs for 5 days, then gorge yourself on carbs the day before the race. I want to test it as a potential strategy for Julys 100 miler (i need all the help that bonkers 'get round a 100-er' strategies might give me!)

So far (day 1) i can say its boring and i feel tired, but not hungry. Its also really difficult, an insight to my carb-based endurance sport eating habits.

I think tomorrow will be harder!

Ive posted photos of my dinner, bacon and salad. Yum!

More Marshalling action...

Watch "Hereford Duathlon Marshalling" on YouTube

Marshalling the Hereford Duathlon...

...Is a muddy and time intensive  business. However, with the aid of a cow bell, shouting at competitors (encouragement, not abuse!), raisins, cakes, a toy aeroplane and lots of singing we have passed the time successfully.

Spring is here...

And so its time for first mow. C was kind enough to help, so it only took twice as long as normal.
